"Homeowners and lawmakers are urging the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to expand its inquiry concerning toxic drywall to include material made in the United States.
The CPSC recently released additional information from its investigation of problem drywall, including the results from a 51-home indoor air study that supports the link between the tainted drywall and the corrosion of key components in those homes...
... The CPSC's 51-home study found "a strong association betwen the problem drywall, the hydrogen sulfide levels in homes with that drywall, and corrosion in those homes." Two preliminary component corrosion studies support this finding.
The 51-home study also provides some basic tools necessary for development of processes to identify and remediate affected homes, and advances the investigation to a new phase focussed on these objectives..."
